Senior Portraits in Princeton NJ
This was my last shoot before the quarantine started. We managed to pull it off before things get too crazy!
Maddie wanted an edgy, urban session for her senior portraits, and we went for it!
All my senior sessions come with professional makeup. Maddy wanted a dreamy golden makeup look.
Our makeup artist did a fantastic job!
She even added lash extensions. They look so natural!
I always ask my clients to create a mood board on Pinterest. I tell them to include images of their preferred makeup look. This way, we can show it to the makeup artist to make sure they get exactly what they want!
It’s important for your senior session to be all about YOU. We’ll never put you in a look that you don’t feel comfortable in. You get complete control over this.
After the makeup session, we headed over to our location. Maddy wanted a location with an urban feel. So, we chose to shoot her senior portraits at the Lewis Arts Complex in Princeton, NJ.
The architecture here is modern and beautiful. It fit the urban vibe she was looking for.
I always offer my clients several location options to choose from. This includes a lot of driving, scouting, and research to come up with a curated list for each client (You can find me on google maps a LOT).
I base location options on what my client is looking for. I’ll also take note of parking accessibility and even pedestrian traffic.

Maddie’s first look was an almost all denim look, with a yellow shirt underneath to break up all the blue. The day was cloudy but it worked in our favor. Her yellow shirt and red hair made her stand out from the blues and greys. This recipe made for some stunning shots!
Maddie is an actress and dancer. While I guided her posing, I encouraged her to jump, twist and experiment as well. For the next shot, she lay on a ledge while I stood above her.
Her second outfit consisted of blacks and reds. Again, it was a match made in heaven.
With this outfit, we really pushed getting distinct captures. Our goal was to achieve a collection of images that was edgy, modern, and clean.
I kept encouraging her to move and take advantage of her dancing knowledge. Then, when she bent backward and flipped her hair- I was NOT expecting it. I was so thrilled with her boldness and we captured the perfect shot.
We continued to experiment with the building reflections. We also shot in unique angles to get the most memorable shots.
